Something Beautiful
knowcked down and can't get back again
stuck in the corner, can't move forward
all alone and you think you're going nowhere
this is a song for anyone whose ever stood
underneath the sun
and felt so small, two feet tall and so out of place
He sees you--He knows you--He loves you
and He wants you to know that
The life that you've been living
the days that you've been given
were made for something beautiful
life--don't let it pass you by
because you were created for something beautiful

It Shall Be Lovely!
May 3 marks the day that I have successfully completed one year of college, and will no be returning to a much better state of residence : ) I must say, the flatlands and winds are not a perk out here...seeing the mountains as we drive home is so exciting! Anywho, it's hard to believe that one year is over. But, don't get me wrong--It's a good feeling! Only 3 more to go until I will be a registered nurse, Lord willing.
And, finally!! No more chemistry! (Except for what we need to know about chemistry in pharmacology.) Just the wonderfully difficult A&P (anatomy and physiology) and microbiology in the fall.
But, first, a nice little road trip. I'm predicting some wonderful conversations, lots of laughter, probably 8-10 cds, a yummy lunch, and lots of mileage.
It shall be lovely!
: )

How to Kill a Spider

- Put on shoes. It's not a good idea to walk around barefoot, or even semibarefoot with a spider on the loose.
- Grab a shoe, or any nearby object--a Bible Doctrine book, a two-by-four, your roomate's laptop... Stand six to eight feet away from the spider and throw whatever-it-is at the arachnid. If you miss (and you inevitably will) and it scampers away, proceed to step three.
- Find the spider again in a dark corner or under your bed.
- Prance around for at least a minute. Try to think of a way to get rid of it without having to put any part of your body anywhere near it.
- Take three deep breaths.
- If possible, step on it and continue according to instructions. If not, proceed to the bottom of the page for alternate directions.
- Lift foot and inspect.
- Step near it again, just to make sure it's dead. If it appears to be dead, skip to step 13. If it scampers away, proceed to step nine.
- Find the spider again.
- Take three more deep breaths.
- Stomp on it seven or eight times to ensure smooshage.
- Lift foot and inspect. If spider appears dead, proceed to step 13.
- Retrieve a tissue, washcloth, or a roommate's sock to clean the remains off of your shoe or out of your carpet.
- Place the goo in the tissue. Make sure to gather up all the legs (even the ones that are still twitching) that have fallen off during the stomping and wiping and/or scraping. Carefully fold the tissue so that you don't have to see the spidery remains, but don't squeeze it too hard, or you might crunch the body inside.
- Walk quickly, run or sprint to the nearest bathroom. Send the tissuey coffin to a swirling, watery doom. Note: Do not flush washcloths, socks, or other foreign objects used for this purpose.
- Wash hands.
- Move to another room for the next four to six hours, or until your heart rate has slowed to a normal pace.
Alternate directions: If the spider has hidden itself in some place out of reach of your foot, get hairspray. Hold can or bottle six to eight inches away, and spray until the spider is wet and shiny. Watch where it runs, though; undoubtedly it will. Now get a hairdryer. Point and blow until the arachnid is dry and crusty.

The Washing Machine.
Get in a car
Drive to the nearby state park
Go down to the river
Select some rocks
Beat my clothes
Wash them out in the COLD water (which would also eliminate any feeling in my hands)
Prop up my clothes with sticks (to dry in the sun, of course)
When the clothes dried, pick pieces of bark off of my clothes (from the sticks)
Get back in a car
Drive back to school
Only to find that I forgot a sock on the riverbank.
Jesus,
Thank you for creating the person who invented the washing machine. And dryer.
Amen.

Test is Over!!!!
But, I feel like I did my best and that's all that He asks for. Whatever the results of this test, I'll know that He was my Jehovah Jireh, my Provider.
Friday, April 13, 2007
Please Pray
The test is made of two parts: written test and skills test (hands on). The skills are not necessarily difficult, but each skill is divided into meticulous steps. Each skill has several steps that are bolded: in other words, if you miss these steps you fail, no questions asked. Otherwise, you are expected to complete at least 80% of the steps...to the average citizen, that doesn't sound intimidating. However, the experience is incredibly nervewracking....and I tend to feel a lot of butterflies before big things. I am confident in my abilities, but unsure of my nerves : ) The test begins at 7:30AM.
Please pray that any nervousness I experience would not hinder me from being able to demonstrate the skills that I learned and practiced.

Blessed
Thank you for this weekend. I know that saying goodbye was hard for us, but the amazing talks we had help to make the miles seem shorter...and hopefully the weeks will go faster. There's something about those long talks that makes the short breaks so special.
Miss you.

Last night, Shane&Shane, along with guests Phil Wickham and Shawn McDonald, gave a concert at Cedarville University. CU donated $1 from each ticket sold to a CU student recovering from an accident...the concert raised about $1,100!! Over Spring break, one of our students, Dan, landed on his head while doing a backflip on a missions trip in Mexico. He is currently paralyzed, but in good spirits. Please pray for the Knudsen family, who posts updates on www.checkinondan.blogspot.com

Random Sweetness
RANDOM SWEETNESS
If your greatest dreams came true, would I be in them?
If you had to set a life goal, could I help you achieve it?
If you laughed your head off, would I have told the joke?
If you tripped, could I help you up?
If you cried, would you want me to hold you?
If you drove 500 miles, would it be cause you missed me?
If you heard your favorite song, would it remind you of me?
If I asked you for another girl’s number, would you be jealous?
If I left, would you be sad?
If you saw a guy’s outfit at the mall, would you imagine me wearing it?
If you cooked a meal, would you wonder if I would like it?
If you were bored, would you ever think of me?
Could you fall asleep on my shoulder?
Would it hurt if I were mad at you?
If we both looked back on our best memories, would any of them be the same?
If I did something hilariously stupid, would you be there to take a picture?
If I reached my goal, would you be proud?
Do you still have the first thing I ever gave you?
If you had a secret, would you tell me?
If you couldn’t finish your chicken nuggets, could I have the rest?
Would you swear to never let me jump out of an airplane or drive a motorcycle?
Would you wait to see a movie so you could go with me instead of with your
friends on opening night?
If you just needed to vent, could I listen?
If I called and woke you up in the morning, would you be glad to hear my voice?
If you were lonely, could I hang out with you?
If you went on vacation, would you buy me a little post card with your last 4
dollars and write a little smiley face on it and give it to me when you got home because you forgot to mail it?
Would you dance with me under the stars in your backyard to the sound of my car stereo?
If you found a spider on your wall, would you call me at 11 p.m. just so I could come smash it for you?
If I asked you to do something difficult, would you trust me?

With a personality all her own
"Your score on extraversion is low...you are introverted, reserved, and quiet."
"Your high level of agreeableness indicates a strong interest in others' needs and well-being. You are pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative."
"Your score on conscientiousness is high. This means you set clear goals and pursue them with determination. People regard you as reliable and hard-working."
"Your score on neuroticisim is low, indicating that you are exceptionally calm, composed and unflappable. You do not react with intense emotions, even to situations that most people would describe as stressful."
"Your score on openness to experience is low, indicating you like to think in plain and simple terms. Others describe you as down-to-earth, practical, and conservative."
So, what do you think? Is the test accurate? [The writers of the test recommend asking others if the results seem accurate : ) ]

Why, thank you!
Oh! How can I express enough thanks?! I'm so glad you knew exactly what I wanted for a present... I almost jumped out my skin when I saw it arriving! : )

In case anyone thinks I am being completely serious...this post was created merely for the intent of producing a smile. However, I did spot a llama walking down the sidewalk of the CU campus today...I just thought the homework had affected my sanity.

Oh Bother.
I took a supposed-to-be-15-minute-nap-turned-1.5-hour-nap. Oops. And I'm still sleepy.
Oh goodness. I wish I get energized. But I just can't.
Well, enough moaning. I should get to work now...a full 3 hours later than I had hoped to get to work. oh bother.

Yes You Have
Every rushing wind that moans
They sing Your praise
My God, they sing Your praise
Every star and open sky
Tell of Your glory divine
They shout Your praise
They shout Your praise, yeah
You’ve stolen my heart
Yes, You have!
You’ve stolen my heart
Yes, You have!
You’ve wiped away the stains
And broke away the chains
Yes, You have!!
With Your love You set me free
Three nails gave me liberty
So I’ll sing Your praise
My God, I’ll sing Your praise
Oh, with Your love
You forgave my sin
Forgot my past
And brought me back again
So I’ll sing Your praise
I’ll sing Your praise, yeah
If I ascend into the sky
Or hide behind the night
I can not run Your love is chasing me
If I fall into the sea
Your hand will rescue me
No one will take Your place
Because
This is all for You
Yes, this is all for You
You’re the King of the world
You’re the King of the world
Yes You Have

Praying for YOU! ; )
Nothing's out of reach
All good things will come to those
Who faithfully believe
When you see a mountain
Standing is your way
Known that it will move for you
If only you will pray
'Cause prayer can move a mountain
Prayer can stop the doubt
And prayer can calm the raging heart of unbelief
For I know when I go on my knees
God will move for me
And prove what He can do
Through prayer
Somewhere there's a miracle
Waiting 'round the bend
How He's blessed you in the past
He'll do it once again
You're not forgotten
Or been turned away
The Lord's about to move for you
If only you will pray
I know that He won't leave me all alone
The Lord has kept me safe till now
He'll show me when
He'll show me how
And I know that I can't make it on my own
But with the power of God in me
There's nothing great that I can't be
No mountain high, no valley low
Will change my mind 'cause this I know
Move, move, right now
Holy Spirit...

6 days...
I want to get A-'s and up this semester....but sometimes...okay, often...that seems close to impossible. I'm trying to remind myself that it's doing my best that counts, that B's are good too... but sometimes the pressure to get the top grades bears down...
Please pray that I will be able to focus this week, accomplish my work efficiently and completely...and be satisfied with the job I do...and the grades I get.
See ya soon! ; )

Stephen Speaks
Scroll down the page and you should find an iSound media player in the column on the right side of the blog. This media player delivers the tunes of Stephen Speaks, a music group that, somehow, helps me through hours and hours of studying. It has been good study music, as well as meaningful music. You will probably have to push play, but I hope it works. (If it doesn't you can go to isound.com and search for Stephen Speaks.)

To a dear friend...
HE is your refuge, your comfort. May you continue to seek after His heart.
I love you. I'm praying for you.
Well, sometimes my life
Just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big
And my faith just seems so smallCHORUS:
So hold me Jesus, 'cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of PeaceAnd I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It's so hot inside my soul
I swear there must be blisters on my heartCHORUS
Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight You for something
I don't really want
Than to take what You give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls
Now I'm falling down, I'm falling on my kneesAnd this Salvation Army band
Is playing this hymn
And Your grace rings out so deep
It makes my resistance seem so thinCHORUS
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

New Every Morning
Because of the Lord's great love
we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail...
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself,
"The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."

My wish...
Rascal Flatts
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too
Yeah, this, is my wish
I hope you never look back, but you never forget
All the ones who love you, and the place you left
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah, more than anything

Feet Wet
standing at the water's edge, i feel a trembling fear
as the waves crash 'round my ankles
feel the thunder in my ear
i feel the change is coming, the wind is at my back
but doubt overtakes me and my eyes turn to black
my past lurks behind me, keeping me on guard
i don't want to chance it, these steps are just too hard
i know He's behind me but what can i do
i'm frail, i'm human, and i don't want to fail you
i can't walk on water with these dirty feet
but He can walk on water and He'll carry me
so put your arms around me carry me to sea
waves knock against me but i know I'm free
from death and loneliness, darkness, despair
this life is choppy but i don't care

"The Potter's Hand"
Darlene Zschech
Beautiful Lord
Wonderful Savior
I know for sure all of my days
Are held in Your hand
Crafted into Your perfect plan
You gently call me
Into Your presence
Guiding me by Your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord
To live all of my life
Through Your eyes
I'm captured by Your holy calling
Set me apart
I know You're drawing me to Yourself
Lead me Lord I pray
Take me, mold me
Use me, fill me
I give my life
To the Potter's hand
Call me, guide me
Lead me, walk beside me
I give my life
To the Potter's hand

Peace Amid The Rush
...and yet I have become so thankful for breakfast with my King, because that is the moment in the day that He, and He alone, has my attention...without the distractions of work that needs to be done. I've learned so much in the last month of breakfasts, thought and prayed through so many big decisions...some exciting and smile-producing : ), some stressful and worrisome.
But, the advice, encouragement and truth in Proverbs--a perfect, month-long book--always seems to be what I need to hear at the moment I read it.
So many thoughts pressing, pushing through my head...and yet overflowing gratefulness for the abundant peace of breakfast with my King.

When Did You Fall
listen here
You’re all smiles and silly conversation
As if this sunny day came just for you
You twist your hair, you smile and you turn your eyes away
C’mon, tell me what’s right with you
Now it dawns on me probably everybody’s talkin’
And there’s something here I’m supposed to realize
‘Cause your secret’s out, and the universe laughs at it’s joke on me
I just caught it in your eyes, it’s a beautiful surprise
When did you fall in love with me?
Was it out of the blue
‘Cause I swear I never knew it
When did you let your heart run free?
Have you been waiting long?
When did you fall in love with me?
When did you fall in love?
Make your way over here, sit down by this fool, and let’s rewind
C’mon, let’s go back and replay all our scenes
You can point out the hints, the clues, the twists and the smiles this time
All the ones that slipped by me
I bet my face is red, and you can hear my heart poundin’
Well I guess it don’t matter now that I realize
‘Cause baby I missed it then, but I can surely see you now
Right there before my eyes
You’re my beautiful surprise
...when did it suddenly dawn on you?...

No Sacrifice
Jason Upton
To you I give my life
Not just the parts I want to
To You I sacrifice
These dreams that I hold onto
(Chorus)
Your thoughts are higher than mine
Your words are deeper than mine
Your love is stronger than mine
This is no sacrifice, here’s my life
To You I give the gifts
Your love has given me
How can I hoard the treasures
That You designed for free?
(Chorus)
As long as it may last
To You I give my present
To You I give my past
