Even in the "Everyday"
A good lesson I learned recently... God is present and working even in the "everyday" parts, or the ordinary, insignificant parts of life.
Let's just say that I have never been interested in cooking....perhaps baking a batch of cookies, but certainly not planning and plotting and preparing an entire meal. (That is, unless it consists of EasyMac, Pringles, and some m.c.c. ice cream.) So, the realization of needing to provide meals for the family I may have someday proved to be an intimidating thought. However, the parentals thought it a good idea to practice my obviously rusty cooking skills this summer. And, hey! What a great idea! ...Even though I wasn't pleased with it at first.
Turns out, a few chats with God seemed to change my entire attitude about something so ordinary, so everyday. Of course, I don't exactly jump up and down while dreaming about all the glorious 5 course meals I am going to make. But, the planning and plotting and preparing hasn't been bad...and, dare I say it's even been enjoyable??!
Even the clean-up isn't a killer. That is manual dishwashing, to be correct.
All this to say, God is faithful, in all and through all. And to GOD be all the GLORY.

I Hope You Dance
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

For You
Sittin' in the rain
Water on your brain
Got a hole in your boat
Trying to stay afloat
Has got you down
I've got a wind in my sail
Rubber boots and a pail
I'll throw you a line
Rest assured that I
Won't ever let you drown
Chorus:
'Cause when you're up against the wall
You know I'll be here for you, for you
When you rise and when you fall
I'll always be here for you, for you
When the plans you make
Fall through and take you
For a loop
Or some bird has flown the coop
And left you stranded
Just lean on me
And together you see
We'll carry the load
Even if we don't
Quite understand it
Unsearchable Riches
Water on your brain
Got a hole in your boat
Trying to stay afloat
Has got you down
I've got a wind in my sail
Rubber boots and a pail
I'll throw you a line
Rest assured that I
Won't ever let you drown

In Their Words
Ralph Waldo Emerson
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
Whoever is open, loyal, true; of humane and affable demeanour; honourable himself, and in his judgement of others; faithful to his word as to the law and faithful alike to God and man...such a man is a true gentleman.

24 hours.
What an interesting 24 hours!
At this time last night we were looking for and praying for an open ER to treat gunner :-)'s achey-?breaky? finger due to a not-so-softball. But, the Lord worked and blessed us with a short stay at the ER..."short" is relative to the average wait in an ER, that is. No major damage, at least not that 4-6 weeks rest can't heal.
And, today...some of the best news of the last week: a solid summer job!! One that will provide good hours and great experience, but also be beneficial to all involved.
Thank you, Jesus. Your faithfulness amazes me, yet again!

Something Beautiful
This is a song for anyone whose ever been
knowcked down and can't get back again
stuck in the corner, can't move forward
all alone and you think you're going nowhere
this is a song for anyone whose ever stood
underneath the sun
and felt so small, two feet tall and so out of place
He sees you--He knows you--He loves you
and He wants you to know that
The life that you've been living
the days that you've been given
were made for something beautiful
life--don't let it pass you by
because you were created for something beautiful

It Shall Be Lovely!
Well, the van is packed full...almost no room for us : ) It's amazing how much stuff one can fit into half of a small dorm room. I didn't even know that I owned that much stuff.
May 3 marks the day that I have successfully completed one year of college, and will no be returning to a much better state of residence : ) I must say, the flatlands and winds are not a perk out here...seeing the mountains as we drive home is so exciting! Anywho, it's hard to believe that one year is over. But, don't get me wrong--It's a good feeling! Only 3 more to go until I will be a registered nurse, Lord willing.
And, finally!! No more chemistry! (Except for what we need to know about chemistry in pharmacology.) Just the wonderfully difficult A&P (anatomy and physiology) and microbiology in the fall.
But, first, a nice little road trip. I'm predicting some wonderful conversations, lots of laughter, probably 8-10 cds, a yummy lunch, and lots of mileage.
It shall be lovely!
